The 16th Annual Conference on “Effective Management of Municipal Finances and Assets” Held

On November 8–9 of the current year, the 16th Annual Conference titled “Effective Management of Municipal Finances and Assets” was held. The event was organized by the Association of Financial Officers of Local Self-Government Units of Georgia (AFOG).

The conference was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, the Ministry of Regional Development, the Ministry of Infrastructure, the National Agency of State Property, the Ministry of Finance of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, and the State Audit Office. The event was also honored by the participation of the President of the Association of Finance Officers of the United States and Canada.

Invited participants included mayors of municipalities, deputy mayors, members of municipal councils (Sakrebulo), as well as representatives of financial services, property management units, and internal audit departments.

The conference focused on key issues related to improving public financial management at the local self-government level and facilitated the sharing of international best practices. Presentations were delivered on topics including program-based budgeting, participatory (civic) budgeting, internal audit, digital management tools, and electronic property management systems.
