External Merchandise Trade of Georgia in January-September 2024

In January-September 2024 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 16 777.7 million, 3.7 percent higher year-on-year. The exports equaled 4 786.7 million (4.1 percent higher), while the imports stood at USD 11 991.0 million (3.6 percent higher). The negative trade balance was USD 7 204.3 million in January-September 2024 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 42.9 percent.

 

In January-September 2024 the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 82.1 percent. The top partners were Kyrgyzstan (USD 908.0 million), Kazakhstan (USD 634.9 million) and Azerbaijan (USD 544.3 million).

 

In January-September 2024 the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 69.5 percent. The top partners were Türkiye (USD 1 986.7 million), USA (USD 1 376.9 million) and Russia (USD 1 313.0 million).

 

In January-September 2024 the share of the top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 69.0 percent. The top trading partners were Türkiye (USD 2 333.8 million), Russia (USD 1 835.8 million) and USA (USD 1 472.6 million).

 

In January-September 2024 motor cars claimed the first place in the list of top export items, equaling USD 1 762.6 million with 36.8 percent of total exports. The exports of ferro-alloys totaled USD 227.1 million and their share in the total exports amounted to 4.7 percent. The exports of wine of fresh grapes occupied the third place standing at USD 214.5 million and constituting 4.5 percent of the total exports.

 

The top import commodities in January-September 2024 were motor cars, whose imports equaled USD 2 340.9 million (19.5 percent of the total imports). The petroleum and petroleum oils followed in the list with USD 982.4 million (8.2 percent of imports). The Medicaments put up in measured doses were third in the top import commodity list with USD 462.8 million (3.9 percent of imports).
